Pat cooked sausage, eggs and toast for breakfast and served it with coffee and juice. Up in the morning I got my work clothes on and worked on the back fence to plug the place where the boards were missing. It’s just a temporary job as I plan to put up new boards and work on the fence during the summer. Scott says he will help me.
After lunch April and I went to the grocery and bought the things on our list. After that we watched some TV until the game shows came on. Scott called his mom and they played the games together via a video chat. I answered a couple of the puzzles.
Pat made a supper of roast beef, green beans, potatoes and slaw. We had some ice cream for dessert.
We watched TV until bedtime.
Today
After I get some breakfast I will go to church to get the church facilities ready for Prayer Meeting and other activities. We will go to Prayer Meeting at 7:00 PM.
Weather
We will have temperatures in the mid 60s with rain or drizzle this evening. ?
I made our usual Monday Morning breakfast, a bacon-egg-cheese waffle sandwich. We had juice and coffee with it.
I got to work at 10:30 and started working on the facilities to get them ready for the week. I went to get my computer to check on our security people for tomorrow and found out I didn’t have it. I called April to see if I had left it there. I did. It was sitting in the driveway where I had put it down to go in the house and get my keys. She checked it and said everything was there and brought it in the house. I have learned not to put things in front, on top of or behind a vehicle when I set them down. I do sometimes put them on the hood of the car.
I ate my lunch and had a phone chat with April at noon.
I had to get some janitor supplies and needed to do some work on the computer so I left about 30 minutes early and came on home.
We verified the charges on our Visa and then took a little nap.
When we got up April fixed a couple of slices of pizza for us. I made the mistake of buying a New York Style pizza the last time and it is so salty we can hardly eat it. She tried to doctor it up some but it still wasn’t good. I won’t make that mistake again.
She and Scott watched their game shows together via Facebook video chat. We watched old Remington Steeleshows on tvonline until bedtime.
Today
I need to do some work on our back fence, some boards are broken out. I’m going to have to do a lot of work on it at some point but that will have to wait until I am retired.
Today is “Senior Day” at Fred Meyer so we plan to go shopping this afternoon.
Not sure about any other plans we have. We haven’t talked about it.
Nancy is having shoulder replacement surgery today, remember to pray for her and Dave.
Weather
The temperature will be in the mid 70s with plenty of sunshine.
My alarm clock didn’t go off yesterday and I woke up at 7:10, I usually set it for 6:30. I checked it when I got up and it was set for 8:30, oh well. I guess we can expect that to happen sometimes.
I had a bowl of cereal, juice and coffee for breakfast; April had juice, coffee and a bagel with cream cheese.
We got dressed and went to pick Marge up for church. We got to church before the service started, but just barely.
After worship we went to the Education Building and Pat taught a good lesson from 1 Timothy, chapter 1. We had 10 present in the class.
We went to lunch with friends after church.
Pat and I shared a new steak fajita on their menu. She ordered a “brownie bite” for dessert.
I didn’t have any dessert, sweets leave an unpleasant taste in my mouth these days. Strange!
We came home and went down for a nap from 3:00 ’til 4:00. When we got up we watched some TV.
For supper we shared a can of Vienna Sausages with crackers.
We watched some more Remington Steele episodes before going to bed.
I received these emails yesterday
I love, love that you are going to get to retire! Such great news for you and Aunt Pat.
Update here, I’m having shoulder replacement surgery Tuesday, it’s called a reverse shoulder replacement, my shoulder, apparently is worse than my hip was! Prayer for a speedy recovery will be greatly appreciated. Surgery will be at Good Sam, Corvallis.
We had hoped to get to go to Omaha with the Beavers for more baseball, but it was not to be this year… ?
Counting down to retirement is super fun exciting! Are we having a party to celebrate?!?! I can tell you’re excited, your date on the blog today was the 10th ?
Love, Nancy Jean ? *****************************************
Bet you can’t wait! I am amazed that you have worked at that demanding job for so long. I know your church will miss your “Handyman Skills” a lot. You have saved them a lot of money with your expertise and your creative ways of fixing problems. God Bless you!
Love, Susan
Today
I will be going to work in a while to get the church facilities ready for the week. That will probably be all I get done today. There are some things I would like to do around the house but not sure I will be up to it after working.
Weather
Our temperature will be in the mid 70s with no rain today.
I had some juice, coffee and cereal for breakfast and got to work by 10 o’clock. I had to drop the old printer and some motor oil off at recycling on the way in.
I worked until 11 o’clock and took a break to eat my yogurt and send a reminder to the security team about today’s security. I had a brief video chat with April. She was busy with a Mary Kay issue but we visited some.
I had lunch at noon and had a video chat with April and with Scott.
I worked on the church facilities until about 2:30 and came home. I stopped by the store when I got to Albany and got some milk, yogurt, watermelon and picked up a prescription for April.
We took an hour nap when I got here.
When we got up we watched some TV. April has found where we can watch all the old Remington Steele episodes for free so we have watched five of season one the last two days. Ah, the memories!
We finished working on our Sunday School teaching plan.
I got a comment from Susan Morrison that she thought I was retiring, well Susan and everyone else, my last day at work will be June 10.
Today
8:30 pick up Marge and take her to church with us.
We had juice, coffee and a bagel with cream cheese for breakfast and got to Corvallis by 9:30. I dropped April off at her Bible Study group and went on to church to work.
We are Baptizing some people Sunday so I spent the morning getting the Baptistry ready to fill. When I tested it to see if it was heating, it wouldn’t come on so I reported it to the pastors and Bryan went under the platform and pushed the reset button, it worked. I will check it when I get there this morning to be sure it is still heating.
At 11 o’clock I picked April up and we went to lunch with Sharon, Betty and Barb at one of the ladies favorite restaurants:
I had half of a turkey sandwich and cream of tomato soup. April had Broccoli-cheddar soup. We shared my sandwich.
After lunch we drove back to church and I dropped April off in the Welcome Center to study her Sunday School materials while I started cleaning restrooms. I got all the restrooms cleaned and serviced about 3 o’clock and we came home. We both were having trouble keeping our eyes open so we took an hour nap.
We got up about 4 o’clock and watched some TV.
Pat made us a chicken salad plate to eat. It was good but for some reason left me with a lot of gas and belching. ??♂️ She didn’t have any problem with it.
We watched a couple of old Remington Steele shows before going to bed.
Today
I will go to work in a while to get the church facilities ready for tomorrow.
When I get back here we will need to get our teaching plan for Sunday School worked out.
Weather
Weather: The high will be about 80º with mostly sunshine.
