July 31st National Day Calendar

Yesterday

As soon as I got some coffee I unloaded the dishwasher and put the clean dishes away then put the few dirty dishes in the racks.

I saw that the rose garden was very dry so I checked on the sprinkler valves and for some reason the solenoid for that zone wasn’t activating when it was turned on. I couldn’t figure out what the problem is, I suspect there is something wrong with the solenoid, they are about 20 years old now so I guess it’s time for problems. I saw that they watered automatically this morning, Hmm. Need to investigate further.

We went to the Post Office during the afternoon and mailed the “too small’ shoes back to the business I bought them from. It was only $8, a lot better than the $22 UPS was going to charge.

On the way back from the PO we stopped at the grocery store for me to buy some milk.

I wanted to take a nap but April was in her bill paying mode and said she knew she wouldn’t be able to go to sleep so I snoozed in the “Bowflex” while she paid bills.

At 4 o’clock we watched the news.

I called in an order for Papa Murphy’s pizza and went to pick it up for supper.

April and Scott watched Wheel of Fortune together, Scott was taking a nap during Jeopardy.

We watched some TV shows until bedtime.

Today

I hope to get some of that outside work done today.

We plan to go to Prayer Meeting tonight at six and take food to a couple on the way. She’s our age and fell face first on concrete last week; broke her nose and wrist. She had surgery on the wrist so is unable to prepare meals. The women of the church are taking meals to them, today is Pat’s turn.

Weather

It is currently 65º with a high of 84º predicted with lots of sunshine.

That’s all for July 31, keep in touch.

July 30th National Calendar

Yesterday

Breakfast: Bacon, egg & cheese waffle, juice, coffee
Lunch: Squash, green beans, summer salad, stewed potatoes
Supper: Hot dog, Bush’s Baked Beans, potato chips, ice cream

I pretty much covered what we did yesterday in last night’s late blog.

I talked to Scott last night and he said the drive into town and back charged the battery and it was still charged when he got home, so its not a problem with the battery or the charging system. He says he is going to back into his parking space from now on so the battery will be accessible from the street.

Pat and Scott (*Jetson watched) Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. We watched TV until bedtime.

(* Remember The Jetson’s TV cartoons?)

Today

I hope to remove a bunch of leaves under the holly tree in the back yard.

We need to go to the Post Office and mail some shoes I bought online, they are too small and I need to return them. I checked about sending them by UPS and it was going to cost almost $22, ouch! We could just about drive to Grants Pass and back for that amount and deliver them ourselves. Of course it would take all day to do it.

I need to check on the sprinklers for the rose gardens and make sure they are watering as they should because it is really dry here in TGNW.

Weather

It is currently 62º and cloudy with a high of 81º and sunshine predicted.

That’s all for July 30, keep in touch.

July 29th National Day Calendar

Just got an email from Linda Kay wanting to know why she hadn’t heard from me today. See explanation below,

Yesterday

Breakfast: Cheerios, juice, coffee
Lunch: Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, juice, coffee
Supper: Yogurt, Spam Sandwich w/ lettuce, tomato, and chips

We picked up Marge and got to church around 9 o’clock. We went to Sunday School and Pat taught a good lesson from 2 Timothy. We had 10 present in the class.

After Sunday School we went to the Welcome Center and had a snack and coffee. Then we got our radios and did security duty during the worship service.

After church we met some friends at Denny’s in Albany for lunch. Pat and I shared a breakfast plate.

Then we drove to Scott’s place and watched a movie with him, “Mary Poppins Returns”, very entertaining and fun.

We went home and down for a nap after that.

During the evening we watched TV until bedtime.

Today

I had an appointment with Beltone Hearing at 10 o’clock for a hearing checkup. That took about an hour and when I got home Scott called and said the battery on his car was dead and he needed to run some errands. April had lunch ready so I ate before going to Scott’s place I threw some tools in the truck and drove to his place to help out. I found that the cable connectors to the battery were loose so I got out a wrench and tightened them, then positioned my truck where the jumper cables would reach and we jump started the car. He discovered his rear door was ajar and probably that was what ran the battery down. I got him on his way and stopped by the pharmacy on the way home to pick up some prescriptions for Pat.

We watched some TV and the news at 4 o’clock. It’s now after 5 o’clock before I did the blog. I had planned to do some outside work but its kinda late now so I don’t know if I will or not. Probably not.

I guess I won’t have much to say tomorrow since I told you all this today.

Weather

The temperature at 6 PM is 82º, the high for today.

That’s all for July 29, keep in touch.

July 28th National Day Calendar

Yesterday

Breakfast: Yogurt and coffee
Lunch: Bacon, eggs, biscuits & Blackberry jam
Supper: Bagel & cream Cheese, ice cream, I ate some popcorn

I loaded the dishwasher and ran it first thing. We seem to always run out of teaspoons and juice glasses first. Then I got out the leaf blower and blew the leaves and debris out of the front rose garden and from under the rhododendron bush and put it all in the yard debris can. A new soaker hose came that I had ordered from Amazon so I removed the old busted one and installed the new one.

Pat cooked us some breakfast for lunch and spent a lot of time paying bills and studying for SS. We took a nap, had coffee in the deck swing then we both worked together to get our Sunday School teaching plan ready for today.

We drove the car to the station and filled it with gas. It has a 10 gallon tank so it was only about $25.

During the evening we watched TV and relaxed.

Today

  • Sunday School at 9:15
  • Coffee Break at 10:30
  • Preaching at 11:00
  • Somewhere for lunch after church
  • Home for a nap.
  • Probably watch TV and relax for the rest of the day

Weather

It is currently 57º with a high of 85º predicted with plenty of sunshine.

That’s all for July 28, keep in touch.

July 27th

Yesterday

Breakfast: Bagel & cream cheese, juice and coffee
Lunch: 1/2 pimento & cheese sandwich, 1/2 Coke, yogurt
Supper: Pork roast, stewed potatoes, pinto beans, summer salad, tea

Not much to say about yesterday. We didn’t get up until 9 o’clock and mostly sat around, watched TV and were on our computers. We hardly got out of the house.

We took a nap during the afternoon and were going to sit in the deck swing to drink our coffee but it was too hot out there so we drank it in the bowflex and watched TV. I did go to the mailbox and get the mail.

Pat & Scott had their Jeopardy/Wheel date like The Jetsons.
We worked on our Sunday School teaching plan during the evening.

Today

Not much planned for today either. We need to go get gas in the car and will finish our Sunday School lesson teaching plan. Its too hot to do much outside.

Weather

The current temperature is 65º with a high of 83º predicted. Not too bad so I may tackle one of those outside projects after all.

That’s all for July 27, keep in touch
