Saturday we got a letter from Wells Fargo stating that we have paid off our mortgage. We applied all of the money you sent for our 60th anniversary to our mortgage principal after purchasing our new dishwasher. Thank you all so very much for your generous contributions. We needed to get that expense out of the way so I could retire.

Yesterday

We picked up Marge and got to church by 9 o’clock, church started at 9:15.

Bryan brought a good sermon on “Singleness”, I don’t think I have ever heard a sermon on that topic before. The main point being that a single person can focus their attention on the things of God better than a married person. That’s not for me but it works for some people

After preaching I picked us up some cinnamon rolls to hold us until lunch and we went to Sunday School to teach. We had 9 in the class.

After Sunday School I locked the doors I was responsible to lock and took the keys to the office to leave for Anthony, who will be taking over the janitor position on Wednesday. Pat turned in her keys, too. Pastor called for all keys to be returned and had envelopes for writing names on to put the keys in. They are taking inventory of how many keys are out and who has them, trying to avoid the expense of having the building re-keyed.

After church 11 of us went to have lunch together.

Pat and I shared a Cowboy Biscuits and Gravy plate with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns and of course biscuits and gravy.

We dropped Marge off at her place on the way home and went home for a nap. We were supposed to deliver a Mary Kay order in Corvallis before coming home but we forgot. Pat called her customer and made arrangements for her to pick it up here at the house today.

We did get down for a nap and got up at 4:30. Pat cleaned up some weeds she had pulled from the front rose bed and swept the sidewalk.

We watched TV and lounged around during the evening.

Pat served us pimento and cheese sandwiches with chips for supper. We had some ice cream a little while after supper.

Today

I woke up at 7 o’clock and got up about 7:30. This is my first day of complete retirement and I’m loving it.

I fixed our favorite Monday morning breakfast and we went for a walk around the circle. It was only a 12 to 14 minute walk but it’s a start. Pat deadheaded roses and cut a few for the house after we got back from our walk.

There are several things I can work on but today I’ll probably just play it by ear and do whatever catches my fancy.

Weather

It’s a beautiful day today here in TGNW. The high is supposed to be 86º with lots of sunshine.

Tht’s it for June 10, keep in touch.

Yesterday

I had some coffee, juice and cereal with banana for breakfast.

I got to work about 10 o’clock for my last work day as janitor for the church. The pastor said he looked it up and I have worked on that job for 16 and a half years. I turned in my church credit cart on Friday and will turn over my keys after church today.
I worked on getting the facilities ready for today, took a break at 11:00 to eat my yogurt and check about security for today.

I put up the posters we need in our Sunday School room.

At noon I took my lunch break and ate a peanut butter chewy bar and an apple at noon with a cup of coffee while I had a video chat with April.

I finished up work at 2 o’clock and came home. We had a pimento and cheese sandwich with chips then we worked on our Sunday School teaching plan for a couple of hours.

We took a nap from 4:30 to 5:30 then we had a hot dog, potato chips and ice cream for supper.

We watched shows she had recorded and checked out our memories on Facebook.

Today

  • Pick up Marge and go to church at 8:30
  • Worship service at 9:15
  • Coffee break at 10:30
  • Sunday School at 11:00
  • Somewhere for lunch with friends after church
  • Deliver a MK order
  • Home for a nap
  • No definite plans for the rest of the day, probably watch TV

Weather

We’re expecting a high of 80º, partly sunny and nice for today.

That’s all for June 9, keep in touch.

Yesterday

I called to check on Nancy, she says she is OK, she has a nerve block in the surgery area and is “feeling no pain” at this point. They got some bad news, Dave’s mom, Betty, fell and broke a hip. ☹️ Now Dave is trying to find someone to care for Nancy so he can go see about his mom. Doesn’t it seem that troubles come in droves sometime?

I had some cereal & banana, juice and coffee for breakfast and studied on my Sunday School materials before going to work. Actually, since I had a Deacon’s Meeting at 7:00 PM I waited to go in to work until 3 o’clock.

I cleaned restrooms and removed trash until suppertime. That will be the last time I have to do that as this will be my last day at work. Tomorrow I will turn in my keys after church.

Jinny and I had a brief video chat during the afternoon.

Pat and I had a video chat while we ate supper at 6 o’clock.

There were 7 of us at the Deacon’s Meeting at 7 o’clock. There wasn’t as much to discuss as there usually is and we got out of the meeting about 8:10 PM.

I had to stop and get some gas on the way home. My Oh My, gas is expensive!

April and I watched TV until bedtime.

By the time I got home it was too late to eat anything so I went to bed a little hungry.

Today

I will go to work to get the church facilities ready for tomorrow and am planning to work 3 hours.

When I get home April and I will need to finish our plans for Sunday School tomorrow.

Weather

We will have a high of about 70º today with clouds and sunshine.

That’s all for June 8, keep in touch.

Today is National Donut Day

Yesterday

We had a bagel & cream cheese, juice, yogurt and coffee for breakfast. Pat made pimento & cheese; we had 1/2 a sandwich for lunch and 1/2 a sandwich for supper with chips.

Yesterday was just a day of relaxing for us. Well, Pat prepared some meals and paid some bills but I just crashed in the “Bowflex”. Watched a lot of TV.

We took a nap and watched the news when we got up.

We watched “The Hoot” from 5:00 to 7:00 then our two game shows with Scott.

Today

I will go to work this afternoon and stay for a deacon’s meeting at 7 o’clock. I plan to leave at 2:30 PM.

I called to check on Nancy a little while ago, she says she is doing good, just not waving much. ? She is home and not in pain, she has a nerve block.

Weather

It is a little cool here today with a high of 62º and a brief shower or two.

That’s all for June 7, keep in touch.

So thankful for these brave heroes!

Yesterday

I went to work by myself since April didn’t have a meeting to attend, got there at 10:30. Her meetings are over until September.

I spent the day getting the facilities ready for Wednesday evening activities.

Had a brief video chat with April over lunch then set up the Welcome Center for Prayer Meeting and came home.

We took an hour nap and then watched the news.

Pat made “Sloppy Joes” for supper with the left-over roast beef and served them with Cole Slaw.

We watched part of a TV show before going to church and finished it after we got back.

Prayer Meeting was fairly well attended and the Pastor taught a good Bible Study from Mark 12:13-17.

When we got home after church April took her medicine and we watched some more TV.

Today

I’m taking the day just to rest, I need it. I think that is what we are both going to do.

Weather

High of 63º with clouds, sun and showers today.

That’s all for June 6, keep in touch.
